Emoji Targeting

Definition: Advertisements connected to the use of one’s emojis

Feeling some kind of way? There’s an emoji for that! Brands have jumped on the popularity of custom emojis and are now flocking to Twitter to use their new emoji-based ad targeting. The new ad targeting would help brands be seen, simply by pairing one’s emojis to relevant brands. This means that a friend that always tweets about #tacotuesday with a taco emoji will be more likely to see sponsored ads by a brand like Taco Bell.

Emoji targeting will offer several opportunities for brand interactions simply by appealing to a user’s interests to place the right ad in front of them at the right time.

Which emoji do you use often? Pay attention to the brands Twitter is pairing with your sentiments!
